Bheeshma Ashtami commemorates Bhishma Pitamaha and his departure from the mortal world on Magha Shukla Ashtami. Devotees remember his steadfast devotion, wisdom and dharmic life, and many observe tarpanam or prayers in his honour.
ಭೀಷ್ಮಾಷ್ಟಮಿಯು ಮಾಘ ಶುಕ್ಲ ಅಷ್ಟಮಿಯಂದು ಭೀಷ್ಮ ಪಿತಾಮಹರು ದೇಹತ್ಯಾಗ ಮಾಡಿದ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಆಚರಣೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಅವರ ಧರ್ಮನಿಷ್ಠೆ, ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಅಚಲ ಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸಿ ತರ್ಪಣ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
